CHICAGO, IL – Sometimes, when you want to send a message, you have to use your head, or something’s head. Yeah, you know where this is ‘head’ing.

Someone in Chicago liberated a goat’s head from its body and dropped it off at Wrigley Field as a special delivery to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, a reminder that a lot of cub fans don’t like Ricketts plans for Wrigley.

The head was stuffed in a bag, and Wrigley security officials say it had a department of agriculture ear tag. So, why a goat’s head? Well, because it`s the Chicago way.

Ricketts is negotiating with the City of Chicago and neighborhood interests about his plans for Wrigley field that include a great big giant scoreboard that would block the view of some rooftop fans. He also wants to increase the number of night games. So, once again, why a goat’s head?

It’s part of the lore of the goat curse that’s supposed to go back to the 1945 World Series when the owner of the Billy Goat Tavern put a curse on the team when his goat was denied admission to the stadium, even though it had a ticket.

As the story goes, he placed a curse on the Cubs so that they would never win another World Series.

And that’s pretty serious stuff, because we know how seriously Chicagoan’s take their baseball.
