SANFORD, FL – We’re half-way there. Prosecutors wrapped up their case against George Aimmerman, calling Trayvon Martin’s mother and brother to the stand.
They wanted to establish if family members could recognize Trayvon’s voice in a 911 call.
Why would prosecutors do this?
Perhaps to show the jury who was the aggressor that night of the shooting.
Next up, the medical examiner who did the autopsy on Trayvon Martin. Dr. Shiping Bao said Trayvon died one to ten minutes after he was shot.
When pressed about the autopsy, things got a little uncomfortable for the coroner.
He testified that he had no memory of the events surrounding the autopsy itself.
Perhaps the most head-scratching moment of the day: the coroner reading from notes he had not shared with attorneys first.
That didn’t fly with the judge, who made the doc hand ‘em over.
When all that was over, Zimmerman’s lawyer wanted this trial over.
The defense asked the judge for a directed verdict of acquittal, arguing this was just a case of self-defense.
The trial continues.
