It’s been more than a year since a Florida teenager was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, and while the case is far from over, the family is starting to get some closure.
Trayvon Martin died after a confrontation with George Zimmerman in a Sanford subdivision.
Martin’s parents have now settled a wrongful death lawsuit against that homeowners association.
The terms are confidential, but some reports speculate they may be getting more than a million dollars.
While they may have crossed a small hurdle, there’s more ahead.
An attorney for the family says he plans to file a lawsuit against Zimmerman, who is facing second-degree murder charges.
His trial is set to begin in June.
No amount of money can heal the wounds of losing a loved one, but hopefully justice will give this family an end to their nightmare.
