HOUSTON, TX – Next time you hear “it tastes like chicken,” be wary. The nonprofit group OCEANA found that one-third of seafood sold mislabeled.
So while you think ‘the catch of the day’ is your favorite type of fish, you really don’t know what type of fish you’ll end up with. Even worse is that customers are usually served a cheaper, farmed-fish in place of the higher value wild-caught fish you ordered.
OCEANA also included a list of the cities guilty of this fish fraud. Houston was number two on the list with 49% of fish sold here is mislabeled. Southern California took the top spot.
Jacking up prices of cheap fish for your customers? It’s all too fishy for our tastes.
