bergHAILEY, ID – The first blush of freedom has yet to fade from the face of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and his family; but recent statements from his dad are starting to switch the focus from the son to the father.

The Obama White House over the weekend announced it had arranged for Sgt. Bergdahl’s Taliban captors to let him go in exchange for the release from the Guantanamo bay detention facility of five suspected high-level Taliban terrorists.

Although just about everyone in Bergdahl’s Idaho home town, and across the country, are happy about his freedom, a lot of folks are not happy about exchanging terrorists for a soldier who contributed to his own capture.

And now, some of the elder Bergdahl’s recent tweets are causing more head-scratching.

In a tweet on Sunday, Bergdahl pushes for the release of all detainees.

Back in May, he retweeted a link to a video produced by Shahamat, the Voice of Jihad in Afghanistan, the same outfit that calls the released terrorists “heroes”, and US forces in Afghanistan “invaders”, as in a post Bergdahl retweeted last year.

The Bergdahl’s boy is coming home, but about 32,800 troops remain, and their parents now wonder if Bergdahl’s release has made it harder for their loved ones to come home safe and sound.
