HOUSTON, TX –
Some pizza delivery guys will be feeling like throwing a pizza on the roof this Super Bowl Sunday because pizza restaurants will be baking more than 30 million pizzas nationwide.
Billy Robinett, a spokesperson for Papa John’s, says, ”Oh, it’s huge. Super Bowl is up there with Halloween as the second or first busiest day of the year. We expect it to pass Halloween this year. We do millions of pizzas across the country. I mean it is slamming.”
Binge eating is somewhat of a Super Bowl tradition since on Thanksgiving do Americans eat more food. Researchers figure 1.25 billion wings will be consumed, 100 million pounds of guacamole will be devoured, and enough pepperoni on pizzas will be sold to circle the earth 13.5 times.
“Pepperoni is easily the favorite. I mean it is favorite by twice as much , then we have cheese right behind it but we just came out with a cheeseburger pizza . It’s the most off-the-wall pizza I’ve ever had. It has got dill pickle slices on it but I tell you what, you wouldn’t expect it, but it really works.”
All hands are on deck to deliver pizzas and one Papa John’s store figures on making over 2500 pizza pies.
“About twice as many as a normal Sunday even if there is football and the Texans are playing, so it’s a pretty big day for us.”
A crazy day for sure, any way you slice it.
