PARIS, FRANCE – Bad news in education, folks. The U.S. is losing ground among all industrialized countries in math, science and reading.

The results of the so-called Program for International Student Assessment test, given to 15-year-olds every three years, show that statistically American students have not improved since 2000.

China’s Shanghai ranked first among 65 nations and regions; immediately followed by other Asian educational systems.  In math and science, even Vietnam outperformed the US.  Sad to say, our results were below average in all three categories.

Perhaps this is why the state of Michigan is considering a new proposal to hold back 3rd graders who don’t show basic reading skills for an extra year.

The truth is, we all dream of one day becoming NFL or NBA players, rock stars or Hollywood celebrities.  But in real life, my friends, the best choice for most of us is to study hard and get a good job.
