RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA – California summers are hot, but we don’t think this is what anyone had in mind.
At least 1,500 people have fled their homes after the Silver Fire in Riverside County, California. The fire has burned nearly 20,000 acres and destroyed over 25 buildings and homes.
Well over a thousand firefighters are battling the blaze, which started Wednesday. Just how the fire started hasn’t been figured out yet.
This fire is nothing to mess around with. Just ask Patti Nelson, who’s already lived through one huge wildfire back in 2006.
“The fire is so ominous; it can look pretty, but then you know what kind of destruction it can cause,” said Nelson.
So far, three injuries have been reported, including two firefighters and a civilian. Let’s hope that’s the worst of it.
