DALLAS, TX – Tom Hoffman, from Dallas, nearly drowned in debt last April, when he got a water bill for $66,000 due to a broken meter.
Whoa! That’s like draining a full water tower 5 times!
At the time Hoffman’s account payment was auto-deducted from his checking account.
In turn, all Hoffman’s accounts were frozen until the issue was resolved two days later.
Hoffman did a double take last week when he saw his latest water bill. The culprit; the same broken water meter. The amount due this time; nearly $67,000.
Hoffman isn’t the only one losing the power to control utility bills, the lights in Albay Province in the Philippines went out after it’s electricity provider called in a 15-year debt. Only, difference from Hoffman, Albay actually owes the four billion pesos, or $93 million, charged.
The powers that be, turned the electricity back on for the 1.2 million residents. However, businesses remain closed and the province stands to lose about 15 million pesos, or $345,000 daily, due to the blackout.
Albay better pay up or some more dark times are a coming.
