When preparing for the NFL’s 16-week regular season, injuries are the last thing a team wants to see so it had to be disappointing to see Arian Foster open training camp sporting an ice bag on his leg as he continues to nurse a leg injury.
Foster says, “I think you have to reinvent yourself as an athlete. Sometimes you can kind of plateau doing the same things over and over again, and then something goes wrong with the machine. Your body has to compensate for it or starts compensating for it so you have to train different muscles around it and do different things in order to get it back going in the right direction and you kind of find out new things about yourself, and you kind of reinvent yourself.”
Fullback Greg Jones has had to battle several knee injuries during his career and says coming back can be tricky.
Jones says, “I think you know best. You know better than the trainers, but at the same time you don’t want to push yourself too fast because you know it is a 16-game season plus the playoffs so you just got to know. Got to know when to work and when to give your body some rest.”
So Foster is getting his rest now, but is ready to take his bows during the regular season with the hopes of leading the Texans to pay dirt.
