plansHOUSTON, TX – With Tropical Storm Chauntel brewing in the Atlantic it’s got our minds on what this season’s got in store. If you think boarding up windows and stocking up on bottled water is a pain try being responsible for all of Houston, and its surrounding areas during a natural disaster.

That’s why dozens of City and State officials gathered in Houston Monday.

Batteries in flash lights are the least of their worries. It was basically a time for everyone to get on the same page, and ensure every official knows their job should a hurricane sneak up on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Officials also took time to learn from the city’s past mistakes. Judge Ed Emmett told NewsFix that Hurricane Rita taught us what not to do during the evacuation process, and Hurricane Ike helped us to better prepare for post-hurricane relief efforts.
