Happy birthday America! It’s time to celebrate our freedoms and to honor those who make our lives better. The Gleanloch Farms community held a 4th of July parade dedicated to its hometown heroes. Among them, Captain firefighter William Dowling, who suffered serious injuries in the deadly hotel fire on May 31st, and whose wife teaches at Frank Elementary School.
“There’s a lot of people donating to my mom and helping out” – said Dowling’s son Forrest. “There’s always somebody with us at the hospital.”
“As a patriotic person I can say that we’re very excited to celebrate the 4th of July” – explained Renee Buckhoff, Chairperson of the Gleannloch Farms 4th of July Parade. “It brings our community together.”
If there’s one common denominator among Americans, it’s our will to help others. Abby Larsen, the owner of a daycare center in Moore Oklahoma, also came to the parade to share her story about the devastating tornado on May 20th.
“I had 13 children, 5 of my employees and 4 of our parents in the bathroom when we took shelter” – recalled Abby -. “We were completely leveled by the tornado. We currently re-opened, temporarily in a church, and thanks to the community here we were able to do that with supplies.”
Veterans, families, teachers and students also took part in the parade. Everybody had a blast. Another 4th of July. We have plenty of reasons to be proud to be Americans.
