The Houston Dynamo kicked up the heat with a visit to Houston fire fighters Friday.

“You know obviously they do so much for the community and the fact that we can kind of come here and just hang out with them and to show them obviously we care about them and we appreciate everything they do for us is awesome for us,” said player Corey Ashe.

First stop was station 51, home station of fallen fire fighters Matthew Renaud and Robert Bebee. Next was station 68, former home station to Robert Garner and Anne Sullivan.

“This was a much needed, fun distraction for us,” said HFD Captain Simon Hernandez.

It was fun indeed. Some of the players raced to put on fire suits, which weigh about 70 pounds.

But the real mission was to give back.

The team presented the fire fighters with a signed jersey, and it didn’t stop there.

The Dynamo play at home against Toronto Saturday, June 22. The game is being dedicated to the Houston Fire Department. It’s expected to be a sold out crowd of 22,000 fans.

The team created stunt cards which fans will raise during the 51st and 68th minutes.

Forever orange and forever our fallen heroes.
